Honestly I would have no clue. But it's certainly possible, even though this universe is involving the Goa'uld as they planted or took from the world's that they conquered, so it's possible this creature was something that existed on Earth or some other planet.

I remembered that that was in the movie

I always thought of them as a Horse/Wooley Mammoth hybrid - since they are used like Horses but look like small Wooley Mammoth with all that fur.

But i figured it was an Abydos creature or maybe a creature Ra created for Abydos - never thought it was an earth based descendant

Yeah you're probably right, especially since we have no animal recorded on earth that looks exactly like this thing, it does look like a woolly mammoth and a horse got together and made this monstrosity lol.
