my idea uses procedural generation on the destiny for the most part when it comes to the space as well with what the planets looked like, but the basic idea is to use destiny like it was used in the show including exploration and experimentation,
It's an fixer up kind of situation with small scripted events to make things a little more interesting such as the events that happened when the ship was attacked or the ship recharged in an star, and just like in the show, when the crew were unable to use the defenses or know how to navigate the destiny as it was automatic.no drama between the crew that the show had, just straight up with the problem solving of situational issues onboard the destiny.
i actually liked the base premise of the show from the perspective of traversing the stars and exploring the universe and when something on the ship was in need of fixing, the ship's automatic computer would accommodate what the crew needed and would set a course for planets that had the materials needed and automatically dial the gate when you prepare a team to the planet with all the needed gear kino, armor, guns ammo, and the ship would set a time limit to gate back before the ship jumps into FTL back on it's journey while you fix the problems with the ship, you coordinate with your crew on what's needed,
such as medical supplies or to another part of the ship where you fix the areas of the ship that were damaged to repurpose them into something else like a gardening area so you can grow your own food onboard the ship to feed the crew.
communicate with your crew who specialize in science, tech, chemistry, invention, to learn from the ship as you explore the destiny, unlocking more areas to gain more control of the ship as well as discover new unknown secrets of the destiny and the history of it's journey and perhaps a little more about the history of the alteran.
i'm pretty much talking about an task management type of game where the player get's to play a part in all aspects of tasks and duties to manage the ship as well as being able to build from the damaged parts of the ship that needs work to gain access to more areas and build it into an well functioning machine like the destiny was new again.
Some previous fixed areas on the ship can become damaged again due to battles as well as other things going wrong, requiring the player to manage the crew to fix the area up again so it's in working order as well as reinforcing areas to be capable to handle more stress in battle,
For the most part you and your crew are onboard constantly maintaining the core functionality of the ship as some situations can prove to be hard to manage and keep in good repair when the procedural events take place.
The goal is to keep the ship in good repair at all times and survive the journey. The ship can be boarded by an enemy if you don't maintain the ships functionality in an constant manner,
rescue missions could also exist provided the crew learn how to use and fix the shuttles as well as the defenses on the ship. there are a few ways to complete a task with it's challenges that keep you moving as there is always something that can be improved on.
You can make allies and enemies of other races but it's up to the player in how you run your ship and how hard you want the game to be for your playstyle.
